Business pulls out all the stops in charity dogs night
Date: 10-02-09
Sheffield Business Club’s busiest event of 2008 raised a staggering £2,997.74 for Sheffield Leukaemia and Blood Disorders Appeal recently.
Over 150 members went to the dogs at the city’s Owlerton Greyhound Stadium as part of the organisation’s special charity networking night, in association with the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber.
Peter Rawlinson, chairman of Sheffield Business Club, said “This was a memorable night that saw key Sheffield business people get behind a very worthy cause and enjoy a great night’s networking in the process.
“I must thank everyone that sponsored races and dogs to help raise such a fantastic amount.”
The fundraising got off to a rather unexpected flying start when Sheffield company Gripple donated £500 because they were unable to attend and Owlerton Stadium gave some of their own fee to the good cause!
Races were sponsored by Raw Estates, Wake Smith & Tofields, Wingfield Slater Chartered Accountants, Inspec Solutions, Yorkshire Bank, SSA, Watson Esam Solicitors, Eyefinity and IDS Industrial Roofing & Cladding Ltd.
Talk of a looming recession has already caused the biggest monthly increase in the membership of Sheffield Business Club in years.
Founded in 1987, the Sheffield Business Club is the leading independent business club in South Yorkshire and exists to organise events for local business people where they can meet, share ideas and opportunities and get mutual support.
Sheffield Business Club provides a forum for learning, inspiration and interaction to forward thinking owner managers and entrepreneurs by fostering a climate of camaraderie and mutual support between members.
Sheffield Business Club is supported by Wake Smith & Tofields Solicitors, Knowles Warwick, Watsom Esam, Hildred Design and Yorkshire Bank.
